Bryan Johnson's Blueprint Longevity Stack
Bryan Johnson spends 2-3 million a year on reversing age. He sells the products via his Blueprint program. You will be surprised at what he sells.
Hola! This is a late post. If you’re reading this on Monday morning, you may be rushing to work. You can bookmark this link and come back later in the evening or the week. Today’s post is spicy 🌶️
Quick introduction - I am Shan and you are reading Out of Singapore. I share zero to one business challenges and learnings. I cover marketing, operations and supply chain. For the past few weeks, I am sharing snippets of the key problem I am working on - the longevity movement. One of the key leaders or KOL is Bryan Johnson. He is 46 years old as of July 2024, however, most of his main organs and body functions work like 20 year old adult. Yes, there are lot of details to be unpacked on this, however, today let’s just be “bitchy”. Bryan Johnson’s longevity program is called blueprint.
These are the products sold as part of Blueprint lineup by Bryan Johnson. They are more common that you would believe.
Cocoa powder (chocolate)
Olive oil (extra virgin)
Multi Vitamins
Longevity ingredients - AKG, Niacin, spermidine
Curcumin, ginger, garlic
Blueberry Nut mix
Background on the longevity movement
Today, longevity mission has become a age reversal mission. People want to feel like their 20s. They want the organs to function like 20s. Nobody wants to be 30 or 40, definitely not 50. Consumers are spending extravagantly on upcoming solutions. Up until now, consumers had access to external interventions, namely the beauty industry. These were stacks of cosmetics, Botox and surgeries to look good. Now, they have vitamins, minerals and compounds that impact cellular health. Research news on impact of compounds on lifespan of lab animals piles up every few weeks.
The Longevity Movement brings interventions that makes your body function like a young body. It allows you to be 20s again (loosely - too much damage to reverse).
The quest for Longevity forces users to be responsible. It needs discipline every day - food you eat, how you sleep and rest, being active and training the body. Without these basics, no supplement can change the health condition. I will write about responsible longevity movement in the next session. I believe brands need to speak about “responsible longevity movement”. There are no shortcuts. It’s hard work, it entails sacrifice and needs near perfect discipline.
#1 Blueprint longevity stack contents
Let’s talk about the Blueprint stack. I won’t review them for you. My goal is to tell you that it’s simple and you don’t need a ton of investment to improve your longevity score.
The stack contains -
Essential multi vitamin capsules for vitamins and mineral support.
Longevity powder mix that can be prepared like a drink every morning. This contains Vitamin C, magnesium and a group of promising longevity minerals and compounds. These are Ca AKG, Spermidine, Taurine, Creatine, glucosamine, ashwagandha, L-theanine and L-glutathione.
Longevity softgel contains three forms of Vitamin K (K1, K2 MK4, K2 MK7), lutein, astaxanthin, zeaxanthin and lycopene.
Daily NAC + Ginger + Curcumin in capsule form. I don’t know why this needs to be different product apart from curcumin’s overpowering color.
Olive Oil, extra virgin from single source. This is a source of polyphenols (type of antioxidants). I was amazed when BJ went about raving about the oil. It is the best seller!
Blueberry nut mix as potent antioxidant source. This is an actual dry fruit & nut mix of blueberry and nuts.
Nutty pudding as a protein powder replacement. Protein and creatine are essential to build muscle and bone health as you age. This is BJs attempt to differentiate himself from rest of the market.
Daily red yeast rice and (odour free) garlic capsule supplement.
I run a supplements brand, and let me tell you this - there is no innovation in this stack. All these ingredients are available with all other brands.
#2 What’s nice, what’s not nice?
Here are some good things about the stack. After this I will pose my concerns.
Good things:
It’s exhaustive and includes most well known nutrition based longevity interventions. For example - protein powder for bone and muscle health, lutein for eye health, range of essential vitamins.
The stack is not just capsules. It is a balanced mix of powder, soft gels, pudding (interesting), fruits and cooking oil. Looks holistic.
The stack combines traditional knowledge with modern scientific discoveries. Traditional interventions such as ginger, garlic, curcumin, Ashwagandha and red yeast rice feature along side Ca AKG, Spermidine, L Theanine.
A odour free garlic capsule was an intelligent proposition.
Not nice things:
Unfortunately it is an American solution. NMN doesn’t feature because it is banned as dietary supplement in the US.
Blueprint is a longevity solution for the US market. It doesn’t understand and care about the longevity problems of the East or other countries in the world.
It has ignored the Chinese Traditional Medicine herbs completely.
I don’t know if the Blueprint team did its study on vitamin deficiency in the general population.
It’s not unique. It selling the same ingredients as other longevity brands.
When buying Blueprint, consumers expect a transformation like BJ. Unfortunately, BJ’s transformation has to a lot more with the medical procedures he undergoes everyday, cosmetics, medical grade care that he receives every day. Essentially he is a test subject with a team that monitors data and manages interventions.
Please don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining. I admire BJs transformation and efforts to promote a healthier living. He advocates food habits, proper sleep and rest and physical activity as much as he advocates all the non- traditional interventions such as hormone therapy.
Some of the procedures were already common among the rich and elite. He has made them famous in social media.
I am fan as well as sceptic of BJ. What does this mean?
I admire him for his mission and efforts. So admirer.
I will not blindly trust what he says or does. So sceptic.
Finally, if you want the same products at fraction of the cost, head over to xandrolab.com. Some options to pick are
NMN 450 mg capsule (getting upgraded to 500 mg capsule soon)
Magnesium glycinate
Spermidine
Ca AKG
Shoden Ashwagandha
BCM 95 Turmeric curcumin
Zinc + Vitamin C
#3 What’s next?
As this next decade unfolds (and a few decades after it), the field of longevity will see more actors and participants. We live in a world where food is abundant, it’s safe to walk around and there is significant disposable wealth. This means our attention will shift from just surviving to living forever.
We will definitely live longer in the coming decades. We are a much healthier version of humans compared to last century. However, nature acts in strange ways and can wipe the planet any given time. So we never know what will happen of us. Till then, let’s live our lives in the healthiest way possible.
Thank you much for reading this edition. This was written on the phone, partly in a coffee shop and rest in a plane (edited at home on laptop). Today is a commentary rather than any form of research or facts. The last few write ups have been very fact driven that doesn’t let me really write. It was almost like copying information from internet on a blog. I didn’t really like writing them. They felt like a chore. Today has been fun.
I had a great weekend trip. However, Scoot lost my baggage. Annoyed and sad after a good trip. I hope I get my bag tomorrow.
Jisoo isn’t happy, like me
Thanks again, and have a great week ahead!
